The Cream Skimmer

We skim the milk that we get from the goats so we get the cream from it.  My mom has to wash and build the cream skimmer every time.  When it is on the table, it is taller than me.  There are two tubes that are sticking out of the front of it.  One is higher than the other.


  
The higher one is where the cream comes out and we get the cream.  The other one is where the skimmed milk comes out.  My mom makes homemade cereal and put the skimmed milk in it instead of cow milk.



We churn the cream into butter in the butter churn.  We take turns turning it.  Soon, it turns to butter and then we press it into butter balls. Then we let it harden in the fridge.


  We make sauces and bake biscuits and bread with our goat butter.  My favorite thing is making pancakes with the buttermilk.

  Ponies! by Lucy age 11 My brother and I were saving and saving money for a pony. We had saved $250. Then I felt very strongly that I should text a woman that my neighbor had suggested I contact about a pony. She said that she had a male that is really nice and she would sell him to us for $600.  With the gelding (which means that the male can't make the  female pregnant), would be $800. I thought that that was cheap.  Then I told her that  we had saved $250. She said that we should play with our pony over the summer and  that she would sell him to us for $250. That's so amazing!!! SO we are going to get  him in a few week and I am so excited!!! Now my brother and I are saving more  money to get the supplies and right now we are not able to get a hold of a person  that has horse panels. I am kind of frustrated because I only have a few weeks to  get ready for him. I will update about it in my next post.

Starts

By James Morford age 13   This year my siblings and I started to save money to buy a pony . We started plant starts for planting in our garden to sell the produce. To start the plants, we soaked Peat Moss pellets in warm water until they were about an inch tall, then we put the pellets in Pellet trays, planed the seeds we wanted to sprout in them, and put them in a little greenhouse. It took them a long time to sprout but eventually (about two weeks) they did. You can start any plant you want, but not all of them will live. A few months later, our starts were really big. Sometimes the starts have too much water and grow five inches tall. After the starts had mature leaves (about a month after they sprouted), we transplanted them into bigger pots. Not all the starts lived through the transplanting, but most of the starts did. I am growing a melon garden with the starts we started. I also found an acorn up the canyon and started it in a little white pot with some potting soil and now...

The Cross-Stitch

By Lizzy age 5 I love cross-stitching.  It's really fun.   I learned how to cross-stitch from my momma.  Lucy was using the sewing machine so I couldn't use it.  My mom said that I could learn how to cross-stitch instead of using the sewing machine. We went into the living room of our house and my mom taught me how to do it. We just make an "x" with the string.  We put one line each box like this: /.  We counted the boxes on the pattern and put in the number of lines we needed. Then, we make lines like this: \ all the way back. This makes the "x" in each box. I'm making a flower.  It's light pink and dark pink with yellow in the middle. It's like coloring on fabric.
